Ship Your Skis or Snowboard to Vail

By Ship4Snow ·

Do not address skis to Vail Mountain, Gondola One, or the Eagle Bahn. Ship them to your hotel, to a rental manager who accepts packages, or to a hold-for-pickup counter in West Vail or Avon. Ship4Snow still uses its published rule: ship 5 to 10 business days ahead, and set arrival for one business day before you travel. There is no flat price to Vail. The quote is the price.

Checked October 29, 2026. Hotel fees are what those properties published that day. Call yours before you ship.

Where your skis can land in Vail (and where they cannot)

The useful question is not whether a carrier will take a ski box. It is which desk in Vail will accept it, how early, and what they charge. Vail Village and Lionshead are pedestrian. A label addressed to a gondola, a lift, or "Vail Mountain" does not give the driver a door. Ship to lodging or to a counter you can reach by the town bus or a short ride.

Hotels publish the clearest rules. Rental managers often do not want the box at all, or they want it only on the days you have the house. Counters in West Vail and Avon will hold a package when the lodging will not. If your property is not in the table, call it. Sonnenalp says it accepts a package and does not publish a fee. We did not call The Sebastian or the Four Seasons, so they are not in the table.

The same fees apply to outgoing packages that are not shipped through TripHero. For deliveries between December 12 and January 1, TripHero says to allow 7 business days for ground. Vacation rentals and condos

Vail Butler says USPS does not deliver to the door at many homes, that the office has no package storage, and that a box arriving before or after your stay can land in someone else's rental. Their advice is a UPS or FedEx counter, then a ride. They mention B-Line Express allows about 45 minutes of errand time on a transfer.

InvitedHome is the exception that publishes a price. For Vail and Beaver Creek the page lists $25 per package and $50 per large item, and it names ski gear as a large item. Telluride, on the same page, is a different pair of prices. Do not copy those onto a Vail label. The Vail receiving address is a suite on the same Frontage Road as The UPS Store. Send tracking at least three days before delivery or they may refuse the box.

Hold-for-pickup counters in West Vail and Avon

Use a counter when the hotel cap is too tight, the rental will not store anything, or you want the box in your hands before you check in. West Vail is the pair next to Safeway. Avon is the pair to use if you are skiing Beaver Creek. The addresses are in the table, with the page that published them.

Copy-ready address formats

Copy the block that matches where the box is actually going. A hotel format sent to a rental manager, or the other way around, is how bags sit unclaimed.

Hotel or lodge

Guest name on the reservation
Hotel name
Arrival date
Street address from the hotel
Vail, CO 81657
Phone on the reservation

Antlers asks for this shape: "Antlers at Vail / name on the reservation / arrival date." Use the street on your confirmation if the carrier form requires one. That street was not on the Antlers FAQ.

Rental manager who accepts packages

Home name
Guest name
C/O InvitedHome
2121 N. Frontage Road W. #116
Vail, CO 81657

That block is InvitedHome's published Vail and Beaver Creek address, not a format for every manager. Vail Butler says not to use their office. If your manager is someone else, get their address in writing before you print a label.

Hold for pickup

Your name
Your mobile phone
The UPS Store
2121 N Frontage Rd W
Vail, CO 81657

FedEx Office in Avon publishes Hold at location for Express and Ground. The UPS Store listing we checked publishes the address and pickup times, not a hold keyword. Call (970) 763-5029 and ask them to hold the box before you ship it there.

When to ship to Vail

Ship4Snow's rule, from our FAQ, is one rule for every resort: ship five to ten business days ahead, and set the delivery for one business day before you travel. Vail hotels add a second limit. Antlers will not take a box more than seven days before arrival. Highline stores a package free for seven days and then charges daily. Aim for the day before you arrive, not the week before, unless the hotel has told you they want it earlier.

Christmas week and Presidents' Day week are when ground service slips. Use the ten-business-day end of the range, and still do not beat the hotel's seven-day cap. TripHero, for Grand Hyatt only, says ground shipments delivering between December 12 and January 1 need seven business days. That is their note, not a Ship4Snow holiday price.

We are not publishing a Vail opening date. LugLess has named a November date, and vail.com did not return a page we could cite. Check vail.com the week you ship if the trip is opening week. Desks that keep weekday hours are a bad place for a Saturday-only delivery. Prefer the Friday before you arrive.

Sample for a Saturday check-in. Set delivery for the Friday before, which is one business day ahead of you and inside a seven-day hold. Count five to ten business days back from that Friday for the ship date. If that Friday is in Christmas week or Presidents' Day week, ship at the ten-day end. Do not schedule the delivery so early that it sits an eighth day at Antlers or Highline.

What it costs to ship skis to Vail

There is no flat "to Vail" rate in this guide, and there will not be one until a quote is pulled from the calculator and dated. Denver, Chicago, and New York are origins you can type in. They are not prices we are willing to invent. Use ZIP 81657 for a Vail hotel, name skis or a snowboard, pick ground or a faster service, and read the protection line before you pay. The snowboard box is a separate $20 product. Shipping and insurance are separate, and the box is not returnable.

Checking the bag is a different bill, set by the airline and the ticket, not by this guide. The homepage comparison notes that overweight airline fees often start over 50 pounds, and that a UPS label you buy yourself includes $100 of carrier liability unless you add declared value. Those are not Vail fares. Discover Vail says Eagle County Regional Airport is 35 miles from Vail, and Denver International Airport is about 118 miles west on I-70. Storms on that highway add time. Shipping means the bag is not on the carousel at either airport.

Packing: box or your own bag

You can ship the ski bag you already own. The quote asks whether you are sending skis, a snowboard, or a ski and boot bag, and it assumes a standard packed bag unless you enter your own dimensions. You do not have to buy our carton.

The carton we do sell is a Snowboard Box, listed at $20. The product page says it holds one snowboard with bindings, opens on the ends, uses full-overlap flaps, and is 275#/ECT-44 kraft corrugated. It ships flat, it is made in the USA, and it is not returnable. Dimensions and a weight limit are not on that page, and the page does not say the carton holds skis. Do not assume a pair of skis fits until those dimensions are published. Tape loose parts, pad the bindings, and keep poles in the bag only when they fit.

Protection and SmartTrack GPS

Protection is optional and the dollar limit is on the shipping options page before you pay. This guide will not print a cap, because a made-up number would be worse than none. File a claim within 7 days of scheduled delivery. You need the order number, tracking number, proof of value, photos of the bag and the gear, and a repair or replacement estimate.

SmartTrack GPS is listed at $0, and the homepage says every shipment includes it. That is the piece that matters at a hotel desk you cannot see yet: you are not waiting only for a carrier scan that says delivered.

Shipping your skis home from Vail

The return is the part most Vail shipping guides skip. Rate it before you leave home. The quote form has a round trip option that prices the same addresses in reverse, so the return label is paid before checkout day.

If you would rather drop the box on the way out of town, The UPS Store in West Vail is open seven days, but the carrier is not. The store listing shows air pickup at 4:00 PM and ground pickup at 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and no pickup Saturday or Sunday. A Saturday flight home means the box has to be in that store by Friday at those times, or it waits until Monday. Re-check the listing the week you leave. Hours move.

Antlers will arrange outbound shipping to a U.S. address and will not ship internationally. Call the front desk before checkout if you want them to hand the box to a driver. A prepaid label only helps if the hotel has agreed to tender it. The snowboard carton ships flat, so if you bought one you can keep it under the bed until that morning. Your own ski bag does not need a second box.

Heading to Beaver Creek or another Colorado resort?

Beaver Creek uses the Avon counters: The UPS Store at 150 E Beaver Creek Blvd and FedEx Office inside the Walmart on Yoder Avenue. InvitedHome publishes one receiving address and one fee for Vail and Beaver Creek together. For how Ship4Snow compares with ShipSkis, LugLess, Luggage Forward, and a plain UPS label, see the best ski shipping services compared. This guide stays on Vail addresses.

FAQ

Can I ship skis directly to Vail Mountain or the gondola?

No. Ship to your hotel, to a rental manager who has agreed to receive the box, or to a hold-for-pickup counter. Gondola One, the Eagle Bahn, and a lift base are not delivery addresses. Vail Village and Lionshead are pedestrian villages. We did not find a Vail Resorts page that accepts ski shipments at a lift. Check vail.com if you want the resort's own wording.

What address should I use to ship skis to a Vail hotel?

Use the guest name on the reservation, the hotel name, the arrival date, and the hotel street. Antlers publishes the line "Antlers at Vail / name on the reservation / arrival date." Highline's FAQ lists 2211 N. Frontage Road W, Vail, CO 81657. Grand Hyatt packages that are not shipped through TripHero use 1300 Westhaven Drive, Vail, CO 81657. If the hotel is not in the table, call the desk before you pay for a label.

Do Vail hotels charge a fee to receive ski shipments?

Some do. Highline charges $10 per package to handle it, stores it free for seven days, then charges $5 per package per day. TripHero's table for Grand Hyatt runs from $3 for an envelope to $30 for a package over 50 pounds. Antlers and Sonnenalp do not publish a fee. InvitedHome charges $25 per package and $50 for a large item such as ski gear. Policies change. Confirm with the property.

Where can I pick up shipped skis in Vail or Avon?

In West Vail, The UPS Store at 2121 N Frontage Rd W, next to Safeway, (970) 763-5029, and the FedEx OnSite inside that Safeway at 2131 N Frontage Rd W. Near Beaver Creek, The UPS Store at 150 E Beaver Creek Blvd A102 in Avon, and FedEx Office inside the Walmart at 171 Yoder Ave, Avon. FedEx Office lists hold-for-pickup and a 150 pound maximum.

How far in advance should I ship skis to Vail?

Ship4Snow's published rule is 5 to 10 business days ahead, with arrival set for one business day before you travel. Keep the box inside the hotel's hold window. Antlers will not take items more than 7 days early, and Highline's free storage is 7 days. For Christmas week, TripHero asks Grand Hyatt shippers to allow 7 business days for ground between December 12 and January 1. Use the long end of the 5 to 10 day range in Presidents' Day week too, without arriving earlier than the hotel allows.

How much does it cost to ship skis to Vail?

There is no flat Vail price in this guide. Quote your origin ZIP to 81657, name the bag, and read the total before you pay. A snowboard box is listed at $20, and the product page says shipping and insurance are separate. Protection is optional and the limit is on that quote.

How do I ship my skis home from Vail?

The quote form can rate a round trip by swapping the same addresses, so the return label exists before you fly. If you drop the box at The UPS Store in West Vail, air pickup is 4:00 PM and ground pickup is 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday only. A Saturday checkout will miss that pickup. Antlers can arrange outbound shipping to a U.S. address. Call the desk. They do not ship internationally.

Is my gear protected while shipping to Vail?

Protection is optional. Add it when you book. The coverage limit is shown on the quote before you pay. If something happens, file a claim within 7 days of scheduled delivery with the order number, tracking number, proof of value, photos, and a repair or replacement estimate. SmartTrack GPS is listed at $0, and the homepage says every shipment includes it.
